Efficacy and function:
This product is a stimulating drug with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Locally used for joint or muscle pain, often used as liniment to treat rheumatic pain, and promote local blood circulation.
This product has a limited and strong smell similar to wintergreen. When used as a spice, it is often used as a flavoring agent for medicinal preparations and paints. Other medicines contained in the mouth such as chewing gum and mouthwash are also used.
Methyl salicylate is also used as a solvent and intermediate for the manufacture of insecticides, fungicides, fragrances, paints, cosmetic inks, and fiber dyeing aids.
